Ah McEwan... You've done it again

Just finished reading Ian McEwan's 'Enduring Love' and cherished every second of it. I loved 'Atonement' and found the same in-depth explorations of the human psyche and thought process in this one as well.

A quick summary - loved up couple Joe and Clarissa are having a picnic out in a field. They spot a hot air balloon floating quite low nearby, only to realise that a man is dangling from the basket. A group of onlookers race over and, in an effort to save the dangling man and the young boy trapped inside the basket, one man falls to his death. During the rescue effort, Joe exchanges a misinterpreted glance with 'Jed', one of the younger man who rushed over to help. This glance begins Jed's burning obsession with Joe, an obsession which threatens Joe's sanity, his relationship and his innocence.

Although there were a few questionable moments in the story, I was quite enraptured. Highly recommended.
